A Day of Keeping Southern Arizona Warm – Adventures of a HVAC Service Tech

6:00 AM – Rise and Shine

My day as a Green Valley Cooling & Heating technician starts early. After checking my morning weather report, I know today’s going to be one of those chilly desert mornings where furnaces will be working overtime.

7:00 AM – First Call

I’m headed to Sahuarita for an urgent furnace repair. Winter in Southern Arizona might surprise newcomers – temperatures can drop significantly overnight, making reliable heating essential for comfort.

9:30 AM – Routine Maintenance

Next stop is Vail, where I’m performing a scheduled heating system maintenance. Preventative care is crucial, especially before the cold season hits full force. I’m checking:

  • Filter conditions
  • Thermostat calibration
  • Heat exchanger integrity
  • Blower motor performance

12:00 PM – Emergency Call

Lunch break gets cut short with an urgent call from Corona de Tucson. An older couple’s heater stopped working during the night. These situations remind me why I love this job – helping people stay comfortable in their homes.

2:30 PM – New Installation

The afternoon takes me to Tubac for a new heater installation. It’s rewarding to upgrade someone’s home with an energy-efficient heating system that will serve them well for years to come.

5:00 PM – Wrapping Up

As the sun sets over the Santa Rita Mountains, I’m finishing my last service call in Green Valley. Today was productive – five households will sleep warmer tonight thanks to our team’s dedication to quality service.

Every day brings different challenges, but ensuring our community stays comfortable during those cool desert nights makes it all worthwhile.
